Vanishing Edge & Perimeter Overflow Pools: Design Theory, Engineering & Construction Best Practices

Sunday, November 4, 2012, 9:45 am – 12:00 pm
Presented by Ron Lacher, Pool Engineering; Lew Akins, Ocean Quest Pools by Lew Akins

Vanishing edge and perimeter over flow pools are often thought to be the most intimidating & technically challenging structures to build. Many builders do them incorrectly, or simply do not include them into their design options. This workshop, co-presented by a renowned design engineer and an award winning pool builder, will:

  • Demystify the theories behind designing & building vanishing edge and overflow pools.
  • Find out: fundamental principles of water in transit systems including gravity flow in piping & gutters
  • Explore important key concepts such as catch basin/surge tank sizing, deck design, noise reduction & other critical topics
  • When good plans go bad:  avoiding problems in advanced pool design & construction
